Lifesaving clubhouse rebuild
Works are underway for the new Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club. The project was funded by the Victorian Government ($3.5 million) and the Shire ($1 million) with the balance raised by Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club.
The former clubhouse was constructed as a basic utility building with a lookout and had reached the end of its serviceable life and lacked storage. New facilities include storage for emergency equipment, separate change rooms, a patrol tower and training spaces – enabling improved response times for rescues.
The Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club has been a cornerstone of community safety and education for over two decades. It plays an essential role in water rescue and safety education at one of Victoria’s most popular beach destinations, with over 700,000 visitors each year.
It is anticipated that the new clubhouse will be completed by September, 2026. (Article Source - Peninsula Wide Magazine, Summer 2025-2026)
